Doing something meaningful is vital to our own mental health.  I feel that so many people do not understand this and are thus unhappy at work and in life.  There are so many ways to make a difference in people's lives in a huge and meaningful way.  The generally thought of ways to impact someone's life are to be a doctor, nurse, police officer, firefighter.  I give you one more idea, what about a small farmer?  Be the person who puts healthy, natural, safe food on people's tables.  You can impact people's lives more than you could imagine.
